Rajah Caruth Makes History with Victory at Victoria's Voice Foundation 200

Rajah Kirby Caruth, a rising star in American professional stock car racing and a student at Winston Salem State University, has recently etched his name in the annals of NASCAR history with a monumental win at the 2024 Victoria's Voice Foundation 200. On March 1, 2024, Caruth showcased his exceptional talent, securing victory and becoming the only HBCU student to win a Nascar series and the third Black driver to win in the top three NASCAR series, joining the ranks of legends Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.

Born on June 11, 2002, in Atlanta, Georgia, Caruth's journey to success is as inspiring as it is remarkable. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, and Washington, D.C., Caruth's passion for racing was ignited at a young age, sparked by the animated film "Cars." His parents' surprise trip to a NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway when he was just 12 years old further fueled his love for the sport.

Despite juggling school, basketball, track, and a summer job, Caruth's determination never wavered. At 16, he began his racing career virtually in the eNASCAR Ignite Series, catching the attention of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program. This pivotal moment opened doors for Caruth, leading to his participation in the Bojangles' Southern Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2019.

Transitioning through various racing circuits, Caruth's talent continued to shine. From winning his first career late model race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series to securing victories at Hickory Motor Speedway and Tri-County Motor Speedway, Caruth's ascent was unstoppable.

In 2021, Caruth embarked on a new chapter, competing full-time in the ARCA Menards Series East for Rev Racing. Despite the challenges, he showcased his skill with notable finishes, earning respect and admiration within the racing community.

Caruth's journey reached new heights when he made his Xfinity Series debut in 2022, driving for Alpha Prime Racing. Despite facing setbacks, including a suspension issue and a harrowing wreck, Caruth's perseverance remained unshaken. He continued to defy expectations, earning his first top-20 finish at Las Vegas and securing his best career finish at Martinsville.

In 2023, Caruth returned to Alpha Prime Racing for another partial schedule, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to success. His tenacity and skill caught the attention of Hendrick Motorsports, leading to a remarkable opportunity to drive the No. 17 Chevrolet in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

Caruth's meteoric rise culminated in his full-time debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Spire Motorsports in 2024. Despite a tumultuous start to the season, including a dramatic spin-out at Daytona, Caruth's perseverance paid off at Las Vegas, where he clinched his first career win, cementing his status as a trailblazer in the sport.

With his historic victory at the Victoria's Voice Foundation 200, Rajah Caruth has not only etched his name in NASCAR history but has also inspired a new generation of aspiring racers. His journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence in the face of adversity. As Caruth continues to defy expectations and break barriers, his impact on the sport of racing is sure to endure for years to come.
