Rockstar Playboy Billy Pe$o: Rise to Rap Stardom – An Exclusive Interview

Rockstar Playboy Billy Pe$o joined us for our On The Block Interviews Series, offering a glimpse into his childhood hobbies, band experiences, life lessons, rap career, and more.

Growing up, Billy Pe$o was engaged in numerous extracurricular activities, including TaeKwonDo, skateboarding, yoyoing, and poetry. He fondly recalls the rigorous TaeKwonDo workouts, such as running miles barefoot and doing knuckle push-ups, which instilled in him a drive for excellence. His other interests, like skateboarding and yoyoing, started as casual hobbies but quickly became obsessions. Billy Pe$o emphasized that whenever he picked up a new interest, he strived to be among the best. Through these activities, he learned valuable lessons in discipline, perseverance, and prioritizing business over pleasure.

Billy Pe$o's band experience was also filled with significant learning moments. Inspired by the movie Drumline and encouraged by a classmate, he joined the drumline. He reflects on the physical and mental adjustments required for marching, including building strength and managing his temper. The discipline he gained from his high school band prepared him well for the demands of college marching band. From his college band experience, he learned two crucial lessons: the show must go on regardless of circumstances, and true passion for what you do ensures you never lose enthusiasm. These lessons seamlessly translated into his music career.

Billy Pe$o’s journey in music began after years of uncertainty. He started rapping by recording his first two songs with his friend Maestro. After a two-year hiatus, he recorded another song with DJ DeDe, co-founder of Carolina Space Kids. Following another two-year break, he realized his potential and qualifications to pursue music seriously, leading to the artist he is today. Billy Pe$o acknowledges that pursuing a music career is challenging, but he is committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve his dream.

Fans can look forward to his upcoming EP, Up In Da Air 2, set to release in June, exclusively produced by DJ DeDe. For the full interview, visit our On The Block Interviews page.
